15 months means….

A: Emily weighs 24.10 pounds and is 32 1/2 inches tall. That means she is in the 75% for weight and 95% for length. William weighs 23.13 pounds and is 31 1/2 inches long. He is in the 50% for both height and length. I don’t know why I love hearing the percentiles, but I love their check-ups for this very reason. Dr. Cooper says they are both happy and healthy and are all set to come back at 18 months. She also did confirm that William had roseola, go figure….

B. We still love baskets around here. We don’t have as many out anymore, because they were being used as climbing mechanisms, but we still have a few.

C: William says Daddy, Doggie, Hi. Emily says Daddy, Dog, Juice, Hi, Thank you. Notice MAMA is missing from this list! Ugh – they can make the sound, but wont’ really say the word, not to mean anything at least. Hopefully soon, we sure do practice a lot, but when I say Mama, they say DaaaaDeeeee! Lol…

D: They love books, Emily especially. If they get quiet, and they’re not in trouble somewhere, they are in the book basket, getting all of them out, flipping through them. Emily will sit for 30 mins or more, just looking through her books. We need to get some more of the touchy ones.

E:  They are sitting at the table now, still in highchairs, but pulled up to the table. They try to use plates, sometimes it’s successful, sometimes they end up on the floor. They both loooove spoons, and are improving each day with them. We still have a ways to go, but practice makes perfect. We have still not mastered being clean while we eat though!

F: Both babies love baths! William will NOT sit on his bottom though and it’s very frustrating, trying to make him sit and all he wants to do is laugh and stand up. Suggestions!? But they both love the water and never like to get out of the tub. We don’t stay in long, we do our business and get out, but they still enjoy their time in the water.

G: We try to stick to a routine. Get home by about 5, 5:15. Eat dinner. Play. Baths every other night ( so sue me if you think they should be bathed every night). Bedtime by 8:00pm. Bedtime is definitely way easier than it was before. This will probably be my kiss of death, but most nights they go right down without too much fuss. Emily is sleeping soooo much better too. She still has a few cry outs right at first, before 11pm, but after that, she’s normally good to go for the night.

I think that’s about it. 15 months ago these precious babies came into our world and things have never been the same! Lol, I still laugh and think about the way things “ used to be before the babies.” And it’s still hard to wrap my head around the fact that they LIVE here with US, and will for a LONG time! Hehe. We love them more than anything though and it’s so much fun being able to do more stuff with them, going on outings, eating out, just stuff we didn’t do for a long time with them. I think the thought of taking tiny baby twins out places was very intimidating! BUT – I’ve been there done that, so now I feel pretty good! Go ME!

Happy Tuesday!

Better late than never

Rosie Roseola

Friday morning, 10:00am, this is me and William, at the doctor's office. He woke up Thursday morning with a fever, ran around 101-102 the whole day and then Friday, started reaching 103, 103.5, so off to the doctor we went. No flu, no strep, so the doctor said he had a virus. *sigh*
Alrighty then, I guess he has a virus.

Well, Saturday morning William woke up with a fever of 105. EEK! Waited a few mins, 104.8. Then he threw up twice. Verrrry puny and just sickly. Limp. Call the doc's office, and they suggested we go to the ER, so we did. Off we went, 9am. 1pm rolls around, we finally leave, with the same diagnosis as the day before, William has a virus. *sigh* Alright then.

Bathtime Sunday night...this is what we find! A rash! It means it's Roseola! Sudden onset of high fever, no other symptoms, then a rash a few days later. It fits him to a T! At least now we know which makes me feel better.

They have their 15 month old check-up tomorrow, so the doctor will be able to look at him again and just make sure that's what it is, but I'm positive it is.

Happy Monday!

Here comes Peter Cottontail

We had our 2nd trip to visit the Easter Bunny today. Last year at this time, we had our very first trip to the mall in order to visit Mr. Bunny, along with a screaming contest in the drive-thru at Chick Fil A afterwards, but this year was smooth sailing. William and Emily loved the Bunny. We had an appt at JC Penney, since we're a member and all, and they walked right up to the Bunny, giggled and promptly sat down with him and started playing with some eggs. No screaming, no running away, just friendly with the big stuffed Bunny. Emily wouldn't crack too many smiles, though she was chatting away, but it was Ok, I was very pleased with our trip. We then took a trip to 5 Guys and had dinner. Just so you don't think I'm insane, I had Billy's parents for help, thank Goodness!

We took a wonderful day trip on Saturday to Little Talbot Island and Amelia Island. We took a hike in the woods, and that went very well, both babies fell asleep. Me and Billy chatted, walked fast, walked slow, helped each other push the stroller thru the sand. Then, we get to the end of our trail, which normally leads right out onto the beach. Ahhhh, waves, sand, peace....but this time our trail just dumped off. It was high tide, and apparently they have some issues with beach erosion, because we faced a steep drop off. So challenge number one became " how to get down to the beach."

Once we conquered that, we were then faced with challenge number two " how to get the rest of the way down the beach when the tide was so high and there was no beach to walk on." We talked about it for a while, chatted with a one legged photographer that was contemplating the same thing we were, and then we decided to just go for it. We took off our shoes, and just went right through the water, stroller and all. It got close to the seat, but it didn't get anyone wet, and I guess that is what all terrain strollers are for, right? Our feet were like ice, but it was all in good fun and definitely worth it!

By this time, both babies were awake, so we got out and played for a while and had lunch. I am so thankful that they love the beach. I know this could change at any time, but I'm glad they're not afraid of water or sand. I think this summer will be so much fun, seeing them run and play and have a ball. We had a great day. We need more days like this, especially barely ever seeing Billy, so we all enjoyed each other very much.

Sunday was rainy and cold, so me and Billy ran errands and B's mom baby-sat. So our weekend was wonderful and so far, Monday has been wonderful too!

Happy Monday!

P.S. I'm on Billy's computer, and I just can't figure out why this is all underlined, please excuse....

Catch up List

I have been terrible about writing in my blog lately, not sure why. I guess I just go thru phases, even though I wish I had more of the "writing" phases than the "non-writing" phases. Oh well, such is life!
1) The babies are just getting into everything. Actually, William gets into most everything, Emily is not nearly as interested in getting into trouble as he is. We have recently moved the barricade that has been protecting our TV and entertainment area and man oh man - what a difference! William wants to be around that area all the time. Popping his hand does not seem to phase him, so we are looking for a good time-out area. I feel that he is a big young for time-out, but I have heard about people doing it this early, so we're going to try. Emily thinks it's all a big game. She will walk slowly over to the TV area, turn around to make sure you're looking at her, and then giggle, hide her facae, and wait for you to come and get her. She thinks it's hilarious, and actually, IT IS!

2) Speaking of funny, when Emily naps, or is actually in bed for bedtime, if she has not fallen asleep yet and you go in there, she squeals and jumps into her pillow and hides her face. Agian, she thinks it's the funniest thing. It's like she knows you "caught" her. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

3) Emily has been falling alllll over the place. She fell on Monday at the sitter's house, and bumped her eye, making a mark, and then also got a bump/bruise on her forehead. Once we got home, she promptly fell off one of the riding toys, and fell into a stack of coke 12-packs, hitting her forehead again and stabbing herself in the side. Tuesday I get a call from the sitter saying Emily had taken a terrible fall and was bleeding. She split the little skin between your top gum and your top lip and her lip was swollen and bleeding. She was fine, we called the doctor and all was fine, but still, she is so accident prone! She fell into William again last night and busted her bottom lip too, lol...not so much blood though, just a little.

4) We start swimming lessons on Saturday.

5) William is still doing really well with his letterbox and putting the envelope in the slot. He knows how to open the mailbox now, and get the letter out, and put it back in again. He is also doing pretty good with building small things. Emily is still not quite at the same stage that William is, but she is showing interest, so that's good.

6) William loves doggies. Emily loves monkeys.

7) Emily still is not liking her milk. I caved in and tried a tiny bit of strawberry syrup in it, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Since she has been so snotty lately, I haven't been worrying about it much, since milk is not good for snot, but I HAVE to make her drink it, once she is all well again. She really doesn't drink that much of anything, but especially not milk.

8) I'm ready for a vacation!

That's it for now, have to run! Happy Thursday!
