Workin' Niiine to Fiiiive

Welp, my first week is almost over! I can't believe it's gone by so quickly and it's actually been Ok, better than I thought.
I have walked less, typed more, and definitely TALKED more than I have in months. It's verrrry different having a conversation with an adult VS baby talking with a newborn.
I miss my babies very much during the day though and I love to go home and see them. They are just so cute and I'm always ready to speed home and pick them up. They on the other hand seem to care less that I'm home, or have been away. Lol - I want them to welcome me home with open arms, but they don't do that yet. Hopefully one day they will!
So I don't have much to report. Today is their 3-month BD and they will be 13 weeks old tomorrow. I will be weighing them and attempting to measure them tonight, so I can record it in the baby books and I'll post the stats on here later.
That's really about it. TGIF!!!

T-minus 15 hours

I leave for work tomorrow at 6:30am. I can't believe it. I am trying to have a good attitude about it and just let whatever happens happen...but I'm still not looking forward to the morning, and leaving my babies, and heading back into the working world. Wish me luck.

As I've been thinking about going back to work, I've been thinking about how much our lives have changed since these precious creatures have been here, actually here in our lives and not just in my belly. The idea of a baby in a belly is one thing, but once they get here - that's a different story. They have already outgrown things. They look different. They act different. They do different things, and they have quit doing some things we liked.

Emily no longer acts like a baby bird when she's about to eat. She used to open her mouth sooo wide, and move her head all around, and her eyes were so big...she looked just like a baby bird looking for that worm. But she doesn't do that anymore, she roots and opens her mouth, but it's the same. She's growing into her face, and it doesn't look so "bird like" anymore. She also doesn't make as many noises while she's sleeping. We used to call her a puppy dog, or a goat, but she doesn't sound like that anymore. She just sleeps and doesn't make so much noise.

William used to make a noise after he sneezed, kind of like a sigh, and lately he hasn't been making that noise. He still roots around like crazy when I'm trying to nurse just with me...but not like he used to. He used to look "troubled" a lot, and now he looks happy a lot. Of course, that's a good thing, I'm glad he smiles and laughs, but he has still moved from one thing to another and we won't have that "troubled" look again.

It's like I'm so happy they are doing more and they're progressing, but I already feel like it's too fast! These first 3 months have been hard. Harder than I ever thought. But they have been awesome too, and I just can't believe they are already over! Only 9 more months and they'll be a year old, eek!

I always wondered how you knew you loved your kids. I know people have different experiences, and I was not one to feel an instant, bonding, nothing's gonna break this connection with Emily and William. It took a while. I'm not sure when the point was, but one day, I was like, these are mine. These are my precious children, and I just knew inside that I loved them more than life itself. I have had several occasions now where I will be sitting holding one of them, and I have started to cry, just because...I don't know, they are so darn cute and I just love them so much. It's hard to explain, but I know that they love me back. I question it sometimes, but deep down, I know they love us. And it just melts my heart when they smile at me, or they bury their little heads on my shoulder. And I know that no matter what else, their Mama can make it better. Maybe not right then, but she sure can try.

Me and Billy had a hard time adjusting to having them around, but I think we have hit our stride, and it has been great. He has been helping a lot and acting like he actually likes it. He doesn't complain, he doesnt' get irritated. I think we just needed a few weeks to figure things out, it's just been me and him for a long time now. We've been married over 3 years, togethter over 5...and we've always just done what we wanted, when we wanted. We knew things would change...but I don't think we realized exactly how much and exactly how. Anyway, all is well now, and I feel like we are a very happy family of 4.

I just love those kids so much I can hardly stand it sometimes. Dont' get me wrong, I need breaks and I take them. Just today, B's parents came over and we went to the zoo and out to lunch. We enjoyed ourselves. We will def. continue to have days/nights like that, where we get out and about and enjoy our couple time. I think that is so important and we will fight for that, no matter what.

So on this Sunday, give your kiddos and hubbys a kiss and take it from me, who has only been a Mama for 3 measley months, it goes by too fast!!!!!! Happy Sunday!

Not much to speak of...

When I'm feeding the babies in the middle of the night, I think about witty things to say in a post, and I think of cute titles...and then when I sit down to actually type a post, I draw a blank. Go figure!
The last few days have been good. Thank goodness for grandparents! Billy's mom came and spent the night with us on Thursday, so we could get a good night's sleep, then stayed most of the day with me on Friday. It is such a HUGE help when people come over and help with the babies. They also came over today and watched the kiddos so we could make a Target and Kohl's run.
I'm very excited for my mom and grandma to be coming down in a couple of weeks, but not excited for WHY they are coming, ie me going back to work.

The babies have been good. William is smiling a lot these days and seems to really interact with us. Emily is getting there - she is smiling more than she was for a while, and sometimes seems like she actually smiles AT us. She continues to have stomach issues of some kind, though I can't pinpoint exactly that the issue is, it could be a combination of things.

I guess I'll just end this here and post some pics. Happy weekend to us all!

I'll never chase a milk man

Words spoken my Billy's grandma today when she came over to visit. She was telling me a story about one time Billy's papa thought she was "chasing after the milk man." She said that she knocked him upside the head and told him she'd never chase a milk man, or any other man for that matter, that HE was the person she loved and the one she married. End of story. And then knocked him upside the head again, lol...
Hearing her talk about her husband, after all the years they were together, ups and downs, trials and tribulations, just made me feel happy and hopeful. Sad too, because he has been dead now for almost 3 years and she still cries talking about him...but she knows how many good years they had. And you can tell he was the one for her. Not that they were perfect by any stretch of the imagination...but they loved each other. And the knew it, up until the very end.
So today I feel happy with my life and my husband that I love dearly. And even though we too have ups and downs, I know he is the one for me, and the one I want to share every day of my life with. And I think we can do it.

Aside from that sappy note, we took our first stroller walk on Sunday! I have been telling the babies about the outside and telling them that maybe Mama would be brave enough to take them out there one day, so Sunday was the day we decided to try. Daddy was home, so we had his help and it went great. I think they liked it! I might even try again today...with help though, I'm still not brave enough to try alone, lol...maybe one day!

Less than 2 weeks from today I'll be back at work. I can't even belive it. I am scared and sad on so many different levels, and I have no idea what to expect when I go back. I'm just going to try to take it in stride and see how it goes!

I think that's about it for now. Happy Tuesday!

I only have nipples

While in WR, my little 4 year cousin Virigina Lynn was very interseted in nursing. While feeding both the babies at the same time ( which I rarely do), she asked me many funny questions.
1. Why are those babies eating your boobies? I answered, while laughing hysterically, that they were drinking milk from my boobies.
2. Why do your boobies have milk? Then she proceeded to come and poke and prod a little and tell me she couldnt' believe there was milk in my boobies.
3. She asked how the milk got into my boobies, and then exclaimed that she didn't have boobies yet, that she only had nipples, lololol....we all were just dying laughing.
She also kept trying to feed Emily jelly beans, even after we told her that they only drank milk from my boobies.
I dont' think I've used the word Boobies so much in my life, lol....

That was just another funny story from my trip to WR.

Today I took both babies to the doctor by myself. It was my first time. They both have a head cold, and it was an impromptu visit, so I couldn't plan for any help. I thought it went very well, I even managed to go by the drive thru dry cleaner and the drive thru ATM. BUT - I also locked myself out of the house and had to get my father in law to rescue me. And it took my a full 7 minutes to get the stroller unlocked and set up. I have practiced several times, but it's still challenging. I swear, they make all this stuff so "easy" but sometimes I think that makes it more complicated.

I think that's it for now. I'll post a few pics with this post, might post some more later.
After we got home from church, they were ready to change!

Snow storms

I"m currently in WR and wanted to post real quick about our adventure to WR.
We left on Friday morning around 9:00 am. My sister came down to help me, and she took WIlliam in her car and I took Emily with me. Both babies did good on the trip up, Emily got fussy around Cordele, which is about 45 mins from my moms house. Well I leaned back as far as I could and held her passy in her mouth for the rest of the trip. That and sand " This Land is your Land" at the top of my lungs...oh yeah, and God Bless America. Don't ask me why she likes patriotic songs so much, but she does!

So we got here and got settled in. Almost immediately I realized I forgot all of my pumped milk, soooo, no bottle feeding practice. THEN I realized I also forgot the power supply for the breast pump. Man oh man, I was not happy about that. I had to pump, becuase they HAD to have a bottle for Sunday. Sooo, we went out and bought batteries, and so far, we've gone through 60 batteries I think. No joke, 60!!!!

On Saturday I was pumping, with my precious battery power...and I was looking to see how much milk was going into the bottle and I didn't see any. Little did I know, the bottom of the bottle had been taken off and I had been pumping into my lap!!! All of my milk, the milk I was desperately trying to get for SUnday was now in my lap! Lol...ahhhhh, the laughter that was had from that.

WIlliam is waking up now, so I gotta run.l BUT - I have to say, where in the world did this snow come from? My sweet babies first real outing, church and lunch, and we have a snow storm, lol...it was fun though and I took my picture and video in it. It'll lend a good story later in life.
More later!
