Thankful Tuesday

I am very thankful that today was a better day than yesterday. Yesterday I was tired, I was up a lot at night with Emily on Sunday night…they were both very cranky during the day at the sitter’s house, and pitched FITS all the way home. Big time fits. Thankfully, my in-laws showed up right as I pulled up at home yesterday and helped me a little in the evening.

Tonight was different though. Emily slept much better last night and Billy took the duty, and I slept in the bed alone, with the monitor off. I slept great! I got up on time today, had a nice day at work, and we had a nice night too. Emily was cranky when I picked her up, but the night ended up being good. William did have a melt down right before bed, and as we were doing bedtime, not sure why, but I guess that is par for this course!

On a side note, I never know what to call certain things, body parts, bodily noises, etc. I already talked about the body part thing, but I hate the word f-a-r-t. I just don’t say it and never have. I debated on what to call passing gas, and we have decided on TOOT. It’s not my favorite, but it’s what we’re calling it. Anyway, William LOVES that word, lol. Any little noise he makes, he yells out TOOT. It’s so funny and it’s such a “boy” thing to do!

And we had a very lovely evening. Billy actually just got home early, so I’m wrapping this up! Happy Tuesday!

A fresh Sunday

Well, thankfully today was better than yesterday, which is great news! We didn’t do a whole lot. We tried to visit Billy’s grandmother, but she wasn’t home when we went by, so we went to Target instead. We came home, had a picnic lunch outside, babies took naps ( though very coughey, crying ones) and then we played outside most of the rest of the afternoon. We ate leftovers and mismatched food. Me and Billy played ball…we’ve started playing “ volleyball” in the backyard, lol…it’s been fun. We read books, walked around half naked, I spent some time in their room bagging up some clothes and trying to vacuum a space bag, hehe, didn’t go so well.

Anyway, all in all, today has been a good day. Hopefully our little ones will feel better soon and we can kick these coughs to the curb! Happy Sunday!

WOW

What a night and day this has been! Both little ones have had fevers for the past 2 days, but they went to the sitter’s Friday anyway. Emily developed some coughing symptoms and was generally weepy and needy. Christie called that evening and asked if we wanted to go to Target, but since Emily wasn’t feeling well, I declined. She asked to take William, so she came and picked him up and me and Emily watched Thomas the Train in bed. I can count on one hand how many times I have had only had one child in the house…lol, definitely a weird feeling!

So we had bedtime like normal. And then…the crying began. Emily cried soooo much…poor little thing. She coughed and coughed, not a congested cough, just a deep, sounds like it hurts cough and then she just cried. We held her and rocked her and just did anything we could to soothe her. Needless to say she was in our room the whole night, and none of us got any sleep. It was a loooong night.

I decided to go ahead and move ahead with our plans today. Billy and his dad put up 2 ceiling fans on our porch and me, his mom and sister went to Costco, so I could take advantage of some good deal coupons. I thought it might be best to be out and about a little bit, instead of cooped up at home.

Well, I may have been wrong about that. Neither baby got a nap in, not sure why. We got up around 6AM ( UGH!), and even though they cat napped in the car, they neither slept for more than 30 mins. By about 5pm, they were DONE.

These are pretty much the faces we saw all day long. Crying, weepy, needy, not saying anything was wrong….you get the picture. William especially, he completely fell apart about 6:00. Crying, kicking his legs, rolling all over the floor, just generally unhappy about everything. We somehow managed to do baths and they hit the sack at 7. An hour early, but since the time changes tonight, I didn’t feel too bad. Plus, obviously, they needed it. We feel so bad when they are like this, we try not to get aggravated, because we know they don’t feel well, but…it’s definitely very hard. I also feel bad because when they are saying Mommy over and over again, I feel slightly exasperated….knowing that there are people and parents out there that would give anything to hear someone say Mommy, regardless of the circumstances.

I think we are all just tired and ready for a new day! I said a prayer tonight that they would feel better and sleep better tonight. I hope that Sunday will bring bright and cheery faces to us all! Happy Saturday!

I love Bubbles

I love this sheet! I love William! I love Thomas! I love these blankies. I love juice. I love penis. SAY WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!

Yes folks, you read that right. Emily informed me tonight that she loved penis. See, around here, I’m calling our body parts by their anatomical name. I toyed with the idea of calling them something else, couldn’t settle on anything, so I just call them what they are…penis and vagina. Penis is the more favorite word around here and we discuss it nearly every day. Both of them have had fevers today ( have no idea why), so I came home early and while getting ready for bed tonight, I was taking William’s temperature again. Emily is standing next to us, and says “ Boy. Penis.” Yes, baby, boys have a penis. And then the next words were “ I love penis.” She said it several more times, while I gasped, snickered and frantically thought of something to do/say. To be honest, I’m not sure WHAT I actually said…other than to say again, boys have a penis, it’s part of their body…and probably just mumbled some other nonsense. She is so funny.

So as you can tell, that’s her newest thing, she says she LOVES everything. She also told me tonight that “ I am pretty.” Talking about herself, not me, lol. She told me that she likes her “bruda.” It’s just so funny to hear her actually talking now and putting words together. She’s just really started doing it here in the last few weeks. William copies what she says, but she still says more sentences than him.

He is still our time-out child, lol. He goes to time-out all the time, and he knows exactly why he goes each time. I ask, he tells me. He normally also pulls on his ears, and says “ears” as in “ I know I wasn’t using my ears to listen.” They pick things up quickly…now if they would just do what they should!!!!

Let’s read together now….ummmm…not sure THAT happened!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Here’s hoping we’ll have a fever free night and day tomorrow!

A little catch up

I’m gonna work backwards!

Tonight:  We met my mom and step-dad out for dinner here, they came to town for an Oakridge Boys concert. ELVIRA!!! No pictures though…

Sunday: We went grocery shopping at the “fancy” Wal-mart, which was very exciting. Our Wal-mart by our house is just terrible, so if we have the chance to drive a few extra miles and hit the nice one, we do it! We piddled around most of the rest of the day, watching Nascar, Elmo, and playing outside.

Saturday: We put off going to the grocery store, so we didn’t do a whole lot of anything. We managed to visit Aunt Christie for her BD and then go over to G&P’s house to play in their backyard for a little while in the evening. We were headed to the park, but we got lazy and decided to just stop there, lol.

DSC_1008Daddy put Emily in a nest….

Friday: I can’t think of what we did on Friday…nothing of importance I guess.

Thursday: Same story as Friday…nothing that I can remember. It’s sad really.

Wednesday: Janet, Jakie and Christina came over. We visited with them, and we tried out Just Dance on the Wii. It’s such a fun game, and it’s also good exercise. Emily and William really like it when Jakie and Christina come over to play and it’s so fun to see them being able to really interact now…like they are really little kids together. It’s cool…but sad at the same time, because it means they are getting OLDER!!!

Big kid beds are going alright. Bedtimes are getting easier, so that’s good. I have no idea what the time change next week will bring, but I’ll worry about that then. The only really hard thing is naptime on the weekends….it’s just not going well at all. We try for over an hour to get them to stay in their beds. We pop their bottoms. We yell. We are firm. We are soft and lovey. We rub heads. We sit in the middle of the floor and say Shhh, EHHH, if they talk. We sing. We ignore. But…so far napping in big kid beds is getting the best of us. This weekend, the other side won, we did not. Next weekend is a new weekend though, and a new try. We are just doing the best that we can. And like I pray every night “ God, Please let Mama and Daddy be good parents to Emily and William. Please give us strength and wisdom and the ability to make good decisions. And please let Emily and William know that we love them very much.” That’s all I can really ask for!

Happy Monday!

Pre-post change

Well, I was just sitting down to write about how uneventful the day has been. I had to work late tonight, so I only saw the babies for about 1.5 hours. We did baths, watched Wheel of Fortune, and cleaned up the toys and that’s been about it. No pictures. I layed them down for bed, explaining that tonight would NOT be a repeat of last night, the one hour and 20 minute bedtime. I put them down, went back in once, and then…I didn’t hear much. Until…I heard a loud thud, and I noticed that the light was on in their room. Mistake number one – forgetting to tape the light switch down.

DSC_0965DSC_0966DSC_0967

Just for the record, the room did not look like this when I layed them down. And they certainly do not sleep in shoes and/or boots.

I’m just hoping they get used to this big kid bed soon…I’m very ready. So what does everyone else do? Door open or shut? When the unnamed child gets up and out of bed, do you say anything? Discipline? Calmly explain that it’s bedtime? If they continually do it, then what? When I hear them, should I let them talk and play and then only when it gets unruly, go in? I have so many questions….and soooo few answers. Suggestions and/or advice is appreciated!

Happy Tuesday!

Home Sweet Home…

I might post date some posts about our trip to WR, but I’m not sure it’ll be tonight. I am tired from being out of town and ready to get settled back in. So far, it’s been 30 mins since I layed the twins down and they are still going strong. I guess they have reverted back to night #1 in their big kid beds, since they’ve been sleeping in pack and plays while we’ve been OOT. *sigh*  Lovely. We had a good trip though, visited with family and I think everyone had a good time.

Happy Monday!
