Please give me the intuition to know what my baby daughter wants/needs when she cries and is extremely fussy. It is very hard not knowing, and I know every new mom goes thru this, but today is a rough day.
I don't understand what has happened. They were fairly easy babies right at first...and then like overnight, something changed. I don't want anyone to think that they're bad, they're NOT, they are still precious angels, but they cry more now. I think maybe we got spoiled in the beginning. Emily seems to have something wrong with her, not sure what. We thought it was her tummy...but I'm not sure it's really that. WE just don't know what to do...and it's very frustrating/tiring/sad.
We had a really good weekend, my mom and nana came down to visit, and they helped so much with the babies. I don't realize how much I enjoy help until I have it...and then I miss it terribly. Yes, I miss them too of course, I also don't realize how much I enjoy their company until it's here, and then it's gone too quick.
Well, I may try to lay down now...for a little while. Happy Wednesday!

Blogspot confuses me sometimes...
I don't do a lot on here, so sometimes the blog does weird things and I don't know how to fix it. Oh well, there are some pictures with no words, but they are self explanatory I suppose.
I was doing laundry yesterday and found 2 diapers in their dirty clothes hamper, they almost got thrown into the wash. I immediately thought to myself " Silly Billy" only to realize that they were folded up the way I fold them...lol. Oops!
I clipped William's nails. I have been trying to do Emily's but haven't been succesful yet.
I took both of their temperatures...in their bottoms! I have been very nervous about doing it, but with the encouragement of my friend and fellow blogger Amber, I did it! No, they didn't have a temp, they did feel sliiiightly warm, so I wanted to make sure.
Me and Billy are going out to eat tonight! Aunt Christie is watching the babies. We are going out for Billy's BD, which happens to be tomorrow, which also happens to be Valentine's Day. Yes, he's a V-day baby! My mom and grandma are coming into town tomorrow, and I'm very happy for that too. Help is great, and I know they have missed the babies terribly. I am contemplating making a trip to WR in a couple of weeks, but I'm not completely sold on the idea yet. I have to make it outside in the stroller with them first!!!
Not much else to say right now! Happy Friday the 13th!

Noises....
Babies make so much noise!!!
Emily dreams, or I like to think she does, because she makes the most noise while she sleeps. She cries out, she whines, she whimpers...but it's not in a bad way, it's in a hilarious way. Billy says that she makes a noise the same way I do when I sleep...when I have a bad dream I make this really weird noise, and hers is just a smaller, quieter version.
William grunts and moans alot. He sounds like a little pig a lot of the time. Since we have started using the monitors more and I'm trying to sleep in the bed more, it's funny to lay down and then hear one of the little sounds on the monitor. We just lay there and laugh sometimes. It makes it harder to go to sleep, hearing it thur the monitor for some reason.
Emily looks at you from the corner of her eye. She'll be looking all around, and then she'll stop and look over at you, but she moves her eyes to the side. It's so funny. She also will be almost asleep, or so you think, and then her eyes will open up real wide, like she just heard the most surprising thing.
This might be TMI, but while in the NICU, the lactation consultant instructed me to use a nipple shield to breastfeed them. Since we really had no directions when we left, I have continued to use it, but I know I have to break it. They will not latch on to me directly, and I have to get rid of the shield becuase it drives me insane. When we "practice" without the shield you'd think I was trying to feed them rotten eggs. I wish I could get a picture of their faces, it's so funny. They wrinkle up their noses and squint their eyes, and seriously, it's like the worst thing in the world. It's frustrating, but more funny than anything else, and we just keep practicing.
Saturday night we had the longest night with them that we've had. I had to enlist Daddy's help, and we both were up most of the time, with mini naps when the children woudl allow it. I don't know what was up, but neither wanted to sleep, or could sleep, so that meant we didnt' either. Sometimes even if they are awake, they will lay in their bed and just be awake, but no such luck Sat. night. Needless to say, Sunday was a very tired day, and I napped for over 2 hours.
I'm just rambling now, so I'll end this with a few pictures from the last few days!
P.S. I've tried twice now to upload pics and it won't let me, so I guess I'll do it later!

40-week update
I should have written this yesterday:
Yes folks, today is my official 40-week due date. My babies should have not been here until today! I cannot imagine being pregnant this whole time, and completely admire those people that make it this far, and farther! They will be 6 weeks old tomorrow, and officially at their correct gestational age. Yay for that!
On a similar note - I boxed up the preemie clothes today and was surprised at how sad it made me. Yes, I am glad they are growing and they are getting healthier, but they have outgrown clothes! They are already growing up too fast, I was looking at the little suits...and I can't believe they fit in them. And a lot of the outfits were too big! And now...they're too small. :-( The time is already going by too fast, and I'm cursing myself for not taking pictures of them in every single thing they wear, so I can look back and remember and remember how cute and small they were. Some of their newborn clothes now are getting a tad small, the Gerber ones, Gerber is much more true to size, and they are getting too long for some of the sleep and plays. Again, SAD!!!!
Oh well, such is life, and I guess that's what happens to babies, they grow up! Lol, none of us would be where we are today if we hadn't grown up and I'm sure all of our Mamas felt this same way. I swear though, I feel like the time is slipping away...
There's not much else to report. William and Emily both are doing really good. William likes to be up more at night than during the day. I am trying to keep his sleepy head up more during the day, but it's very tough. There's a stretch in the night where he just likes to be awake, and thinks he wants to suck on something, but he's not sure what it is. I found myself trying to put his thumb in his mouth last night. I know that sounds horrible. But I am trying NOT to give him a pacifier at night, because he wants it, but he sucks so furiously it pops out every 5 mins. Meaning Mama has to get up and put it back in. I'm not really into that game, so I'm not giving the Passy to begin with, and I'm trying to encourage thumb sucking. So far, it's not working. ;-)
Emily's tummy still has some issues, but it is much better and she is resting better at night. She has one little fussy spell in the evenings, but other than that, she's very mellow. She is very patient, because for some reason she ends up having to wait on William for a lot of things. She'll sit in the Boppy or just lay in her bed, or lay on the couch next to us, and just look around. She's still the more vocal one and we still get a kick out of all her noises.
They are both adorable and I love them to death. Yes, I sigh sometimes, and yes I watch the clock and wonder when they are going to be done eating, because my eyes need to be propped open with a stick of some kind...but they are wonderful. They smile and they make noise at you ( not sure it's really at us, but it feels like it is), and they just do funny things...and I love every second of it. When I'm out without them, the very few times that has happened, I want to wear a sign that says " I have 2 babies at home. I'm a mom." It felt good being pregnant because people could see it, they could see what was going on. But now - no one knows and I want them to!
Anyway, happy Saturday and happy weekend!

Lessons Part 2
Or maybe they are confessions of a new mom...
1. When the changing table cover gets a little messy, from a little spit up, I put a lap pad over it. Or I turn it the other way, to where the dirty part is at their feet.
2. If a lap pad that they are laying their heads on gets wet, from spit up of course, I will turn it over, instead of washing it. When it gets wet again on the other side, then I wash it. Some people may call us dirty or unsanitary...I call it being enviromentally friendly by not washing every single solitary thing.
3. Babies make a lot of noises. Sometimes we hear puppies, birds, goats...the goat is the best one right now.
4. Babies make really bad faces, and cry out, and then in the next breath they smile. It's the craziest thing. We get up to check on them, and by the time we make it to their bed, they are smiling.
5. Boys go through more clothes than girls do.
6. Karo syrup does work. Too well sometimes.
7. Bibs are our new friend. Bibs are great. You must remember to fasten bibs before washing though, or else they stick to stuff while drying.
8. Everywhere I look in the living room, there is a burp cloth or a bib..on the arm of the couch, over the pack and play, on the floor, on the coffee table. We have a stack a mile high on the back of the couch. Easy access is a must.
9. I need to take more pictures. Some people would say I take too many, but honestly, I thought I'd be taking hundreds a day. I'm not. I take maybe 10 a day. Some days more, some days less. I feel like I'm going to miss this time though. I also need to use our video camera more. I just got it on X-mas, 2 days before they came, so I didn't have much time to learn it.
10. It's hard to decide between taking a nap and doing housework. I know I need to do both. I'm not sure how to prioritize where this is concerned.
I think I'll leave it with 10 for now...I just heard one of our little goats and Y&R is calling my name! Here are a few pictures from the last several days!
