Frankenstein and Fetch

Those are the 2 games we played tonight. I felt bad thinking that I was playing Fetch with my son…but I was. I’m trying to teach them small words, and we were playing and looking at a BALLLLLL, and I’d throw it and he’d go get it, and bring it right back to me. I’d throw it again, and off he’d go. We’ve decided that William is very smart and catches on very quickly to new things. Not that our princess isn’t smart, but William just picks up on things extra quick and then he just knows them.

We also played Frankenstein, as this is how William looks when he WALKS. Yes, folks, our baby boy can walk now. Emily can walk too and they both seem to take groups of steps at different times. But after last night and today and tonight again, William is consistently taking large groups of steps at a time. He walked down the hall, across the room. After bath time tonight, I was getting Emily dressed and half paying attention to William playing ( yeah yeah, so I’m not the perfect Mom!)  I knew he had gone into the hallway, but again, I wasn’t paying complete attention, I was trying to wrangle the princess’s legs into her PJ’s. So I notice something out of the corner of my eye, and I think to myself, in a little bit of a scared way, what the HECK is THAT?! It just caught me off guard…and it was William walking into the room. Just strolling right on in! I about died! It’s just so strange to see him actually up on 2 feet, walking around like a person. Yes, he’s still Frankensteinish…but it’s definitely a start, and once Emily starts to feel really brave, she’ll be right behind him!

Tonight we had spaghetti, I actually cooked it with my 2 hands. Emily ate it off the spoon, but William would have nothing to do with a spoon.  So I just decided to go ahead and let them have it, we were getting a bath anyway. Here is the aftermath!

William loves to climb onto things, to get to things he’s not supposed to. Tonight, even though he was trying his best to get to the Wii games, he took a load off in the basket.

Well, I need to be doing my Wii…but I sure don’t want to. I’ll do my housework instead and see if the Wii calls my name ( somehow I doubt it will!) Happy Monday!

Veggie Rebellion

We are in the midst of one at our house, but only by William. He HATES vegetables right now, and it seems like it just happened out of the blue! He will eat baby food green beans (even though we are moving off of baby food almost completely) and this weekend he decided he DID like cut up carrots, with cinnamon. So that is what he ate! He loves bread. And string cheese. And puffs. And he pretty much likes any kind of fruit. He is doing great with his milk and his juice, just anything in his cup. We’ve been a week without bottles. He just won’t eat veggies right now and really, he isn’t crazy about anything you have to feed him. He’ll eat a spoonful and then promptly open his mouth and let it roll off of his tongue, on his bib, where he then picks it up, looks at it and then smashes it in the tray or sometimes he will actually swallow it. Oh well, I know kiddos go thru phases, so I’m not worrying about it too much.

Emily is a fine eater. I really don’t have any problems with her at all, she’s not picky and normally eats all of her food, each time. She is not doing quite as good as William with her cup, but she has improved a lot and is close to getting her milk allotment for the day. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re trying.

They are both getting to the stage where they realize if you are doing something with the other one and they don’t like it too much! If they see you reading with the other, or going somewhere with the other one, they normally get upset, or want to join in too. They are also starting to play more and more together. If no one is around, they will play together well. They entertain themselves. But once they see you – all bets are off, they just want you to hang out with them! Lol, I don’t blame them, I’d want that too!

Emily stayed in her PJ’s all day today! Oops! William did get dressed, but not until about 1:00. He went to the store with Daddy today all by himself. This is the first time in one year, and 2 weeks that Billy has taken any baby anywhere by himself. He’s never driven in the car with them by himself! His parents came by today for a few mins and his mom was giving him a hard time, so off they went, Billy and William, to Publix! What a big boy – Billy I mean, lol….It’s the first time that I can think of that I’ve only had one baby at home with me. It was nice. Me and Emily folded clothes, changed their sheets and put clothes up in their room. We also changed the sheets on Mama and Daddy’s bed too!

Anyway, the weekend is over now, and a new week has begun! Happy Sunday!

We love our friends very much and love to see them. Now I have to get some pictures of Emily and William with Noah, their daytime pal and then Lil Andre, who we don’t see very often, but is still their friend! I have a few of Andre with them, but don’t feel like looking for them tonight!

William has a fever of 102.1 tonight. I’m not sure what is up with him. He has a runny nose, has for a few days and she has one too. He also has this weird red knot on his leg and we are going to the doctor tomorrow.

Anyway, happy Thursday night, so glad tomorrow is FriDAY!

Christmas/BD recap

Here is my re-cap, just so I won't forget.
X-mas eve morning we got up, had breakfast and headed to WR. We got there, dropped the babies off and had to run a few last minute errands. We then headed over to our Nana's house to spend the night. The tradition in my family is that our family ( my mom, stepdad and sisters) spend the night over there, my uncle and his family come over, and we watch old home movies. We used to watch them on a projector, but my Grandaddy has transferred most of them to VHS now. Anyway, we watched some of those, and saw some that we'd never seen before, mainly one of me in a gymnastics recital when I was about 10. I was the hugest kid on earth!!!!

Anyway, I digress.

Christmas morning we awoke and did Santa and presents. The babies had no idea what was going on, lol. They came into the living room ( well they were brought into the living room), and just kind of looked around. William went to some of his stuff and Emily eventually did too. William got a life sized spiderman, Emily got a doll stroller and her very first CPK, Carly. They got many other Santa things too as well as many, many presents. They didn't know what to do or where to go. William was slightly fussy, but I think he was just overwhelmed with everything.

Later that night, we did a mini BD party for the babies. My grandparents and youngest sister couldn't come for their real party, so Kristin made them 2 little cakes, with homemade icing, and we let them have cakes and sing Happy BD to them. William seemed to enjoy his cake, Emily...she wasn't too sure!

We got through the day and spent another night at Nana's. Saturday morning we got up, and drove home to Jax. We then had Christmas with Billy's family, and THEN came home to clean up, unpack and get ready for their BD party.

Sunday dawned bright and early and that was their BD. I can't believe a whole year has passed. We did a Prince and Princess theme, and both had crowns to wear with the Number 1 on them. There were a ton of people there, and they got tons of great gifts. We had a chip and dip party and a wonderful, beautiful cake courtesy of Aunt Christie. Again, the babies were overwhelmed, but considering all of the people and chaos, they did great! They were very grateful for everything they got and even though they haven't mastered " thank you" yet, or any other words for that matter, I hope everyone knew!

So that's the re-cap, in a nutshell.

We had their 1-year check-up on Monday and here are the stats, without percentiles, as I forgot to ask:
Emily - 22.13 pounds, 30 3/4 inches
William - 21.1 pounds, 30 inches
Our little girl is still about 2 pounds heavier, but she is def. not gaining weight like she was. They have both evened out a bit, which I guess is fine.

Ok, all I can do for now! Happy Wednesday!

My snowflake

The ordeal is finally over! We bought a car! After a week of looking, researching, calling, dealing with dumb car salesmen, we settled on a 2009 Acoord. I’m calling it my snowflake. We brought it home Friday night and kept it overnight and then went on Saturday morning and actually made the purchase.

In other news, the random cat that jumped into bed with me about a week ago is now our pet. Billy apparently loves the cat, and refuses to let it go on its way. So it now lives in our yard and on our back porch. It doesn’t have a name yet, I’m partial to Patches for some reason, but we haven’t decided on one yet.

Things are just truckin’ right along here. This time next week, my babies will be one year old! EEEK! My my, how time flies. Just for the sake of it, here is a picture from this very day last year…nothing else to be said after this! Happy Sunday!

Alright, on 2nd thought, I can’t crop one good enough to post here! These were my “sexy” maternity photos, lol…I’ll spare you the actual picture! :-)

Only at our house..

It started out as a regular Friday night. Billy was at work, I was home with Emily and William, doing our normal routine. Billy came home, we chatted a bit and he then he started playing video games ( stupid, yes I know). I started wrapping Christmas presents and piddled around until 11pm, when I went to bed. Billy was still awake, playing games.

About 12:15, I awoke to something bothering my feet/leg area. I thought it was Billy, trying to be funny and play a joke on me. I had been in bed for over an hours, so I was fully asleep, so I sleepily awoke to see what was bothering me. I slowly sat up and focused, and with the help of the nightlight in the hall bathroom, I saw a cat on my bed. Please note: WE DON’T OWN A CAT.

Yes, folks, there was a real live cat on my bed. I shot right up, screamed out/yelled a little and called for Billy. No one came. I yelled his name again. No one came. Emily did start crying however, but at that moment, I just had to know why in the world there was a RANDOM CAT in my house.

When I sat up and yelled, the cat jumped off the bed and ran into another bedroom. I got out of bed and walked down the hall expecting to see Billy asleep on the couch. Nope. I moved on to the computer room. No Billy. I then noticed our laundry room door open, which just HAPPENS to lead outside. I go out the door, and there is Billy, in our driveway with his friend Alex, who had come over to show him some new gadget he bought ( Alex is a nightowl, strange I know). So I go outside and tell Billy, in a not so calm fashion, that we have a cat in the house. He looks at me strangely. Yes, husband, I said it, we have a cat in the house.

So in we go, to find the cat. And there it is, a black and white cat, who is on the young side, in our house, in one of the bedrooms. Billy gets it and places it outside, only after giving it some cheese and milk and begging to keep it inside. I declined that offer.

Seriously, how many people do you know that accidentally let random cats in their house?!!?!?  I will say that everytime I have told the store, twice so far, I have cracked up and I have laughed several times while typing this, so it will definitely make for a funny story. Lol, only in our house….
