Lysol Lover

I just want to start this by saying I am in LOVE with Lysol right now. I don’t know why, but it smells so clean and it makes me feel like I’m killing germs left and right. I’m probably not…but I feel like it anyway. Sometimes I just want to spray every surface in the house.

And while I’m at the confessions, I am also loving the smell of Vicks Vaporub right now too. We have been using a lot of that around here lately and it’s infectious…I just want to use it as a lotion. I know I know, some might call me weird…but…my nose knows what it likes!

So here is a list of recent things going on around here:

1) Emily busted her lip and her nose, 2 separate incidents, on Sunday. She bled both times. Monday she fell out the front door, onto the concrete front step. No injuries, just fright.

2) William is starting to love to climb. He used to climb IN things, now he’s climbing UP. His favorite place lately is on the ottoman, that is hiding the TV, but he’s also climbing on the glider ottoman which moves. We are trying to think of other options for our living set-up, but so far, nothing has come to mind. We are both proud that he’s a daredevil, but trying to be cautious at the same time!

3) We think William can say doggie. He is learning how to stack things. He is also learning how to put his fake envelopes in his fake, singing mailbox…”Let’s mail some leeettteerrrssss”

4) I think Emily can say Juice. She may not like milk too much, though she’s doing better, but she definitely likes juice. She is clumsy and falls all over the place, but she normally gets up smiling. Except when blood is involved, see #1.

5) Both babies love to dance, but William especially loves music. Anytime he hears it, he bobs his head and will shake his body a little bit. It’s so funny.

I’m ending the list with some pictures. Will try to be better about posting more often and more recent events!

Soft hair and sweet eyes

Man, the babies were very fussy tonight. They had a hard time napping today, poor Kristy took the brunt of their sleepiness. When I got home, we ate an early dinner, and since I really didn't care to be in the living room with 2 fussy kiddos, AND we needed milk, I decided to go to the grocery store. So off we went and they were perfect little angels. We got home, Skyped for a while with my family and then we took a bath. I am bravely stepping into the territory of bathing the babies together. One in a bath seat and one not. So far, so good. They seem to really like the water and I hope that continues on with their swimming lessons we'll be taking in March!

So we did baths and tried to do our new ritual of turning down the lights and laying on our body pillow, reading a book or two and saying our prayers. Tonight, all we did was say our prayers and talk a little. Neither were overly interested in this, and since they only napped for one hour today I decided it was time for bed. William scampered off, snickering, I chased him and took him to bed. Then I came back, scooped up the Princess and shipped her off to bed.

All of this to say - bedtime and seeing them in their cribs melts my heart. I like bedtime, and many may say that is mean - but I do. I'm tired at night and while I don't get that much time with them...I do look forward to the quiet time after they are in bed, to do housework and other things that need to be done. ( Re-reading that sounds insane, lol)
Anyway, sometimes bedtime at our house doesn't go so well. Other times it does. Other times it goes half well, with baby laying right down, and one baby getting right back up. Tonight, Emily layed right down and I haven't heard a peep out of her. Given ,it's only been about 15 mins, but still. William I heard a little at first, then I heard his little pitiful cry and I go in there to find him chewing on the bed. I lay him back down, turn his Seahorse back on, put his blanket on him and just rubbed his little head. His hair is so soft...his skin is so soft, and when he looked up at me, his eyes are so sleepy and tired, but they are so sweet. Innocent. And they look at me with knowing, knowing that I am his Mama and I love him. Times like that, I just want to take them out of their cribs and just cuddle them. Because I already feel it coming....the time is slipping away. And one day, the last thing he's going to want is me rubbing his face and having sappy thoughts in my head. I guess I'll just enjoy it now.

Night night world, happy Monday!

My Sister’s Keeper

Wow, what a sad movie! I knew it would be, I was prepared. I watched it alone, all in one sitting and Billy kept the babies occupied so I could finish it. When it was over, I came inside, hugged them and cried into their little heads. They had no idea what was going on, but I didn’t care, I just hugged them hard and I just could not stop the tears from falling. I’m sure that I have babies of my own now that it hit me even harder – how lucky and blessed we are that our babies are healthy. You just never know what life has in store for you and we should treasure every healthy moment with our loved ones that we have. ( Yes, I know it was only a movie, but stories like this happen everyday, it could be one of us one day).

Anyway, other than the little cry fest I had, we had a great weekend. Friday we went out to eat with Aunt Christie and Uncle Chris, and I became one step closer to Supermom – I brought the babies in the restaurant by myself! I took Emily out first and then she stood in between the car and my legs while I got William out. I already had the diaper bag slung over my shoulder, so I got William, scooped Emily up and off we went!!!! Everyone stared at me as I came in and I calmly sat on the bench, waiting our turn to sit down. I placed both babies on my knees, while I was being choked by the diaper bag, and in order to take the bag off of my neck, I had to place William on the floor. Well he walked behind the hostess station, so then I had to put Emily down to get him, and she promptly fell and hit her head on the tile floor ( not hard, she was fine), but of course, everyone was already staring. After that, they came back up in my lap, and about 10 mins later we were off to our seats, where I got both babies buckled into their high chairs, all before C&C got there. I felt extremely accomplished!

Saturday we went to Little Andre’s BD party. The babies played outside in the grass and dirt, and I got to hold a 4-month old baby girl, soooo sweet!

DSC_0595 William just loves to eat grass, dirt and leaves. Emily messes with it, but she doesn’t eat it like he does, lol. It’s funny right now, even though one day I’m sure it won’t be.

After the party, we took a short trip to the park. Emily loved the swing…

William did not….

We swung and then went down the slide a few times, saw a muppet-like dog and since it was rather chilly, we headed home. C&C came over that night and we had dinner. Emily peed on the floor before her bath, lol…soooo funny!

Today, Billy and I saw Avatar. It was Billy’s 3rd time seeing it ( don’t even ask) and he had been bugging me to see it too, so I finally did today. I was actually pleasantly surprised and have been talking about the movie a lot since we’ve been home. So I am definitely glad we went to see it.

I think that’s it!!!! Happy Sunday!

Sad faces

For some reason, we were fuSSSSY tonight around our house. I don’t know what was up, maybe they were just tired and irritated, so we did bedtime a little early. During the fussiness, what better to do than snap a few pictures!?

What?!?!?! WALKING?!!?!?

I’m having a hard time comprehending that my babies…my precious babies that were once 5 pounds and 4 1/2 pounds, are walking?! How did this happen? How did this year go by so fast? I just shake my head at the thought….and at the same time, we are having so much fun! They are just hilarious and seem to be enjoying this new found mobility. I laugh at them constantly and it’s just so FUNNY to see them walking around. They normally look like they’re walking in the pitch black dark, trying not to run into something, lol…

Tonight William was having fun pushing Emily in the walker and Emily was having fun running him over!

We also tried on hats tonight and moved some of our smaller ones on:

Frankenstein and Fetch

Those are the 2 games we played tonight. I felt bad thinking that I was playing Fetch with my son…but I was. I’m trying to teach them small words, and we were playing and looking at a BALLLLLL, and I’d throw it and he’d go get it, and bring it right back to me. I’d throw it again, and off he’d go. We’ve decided that William is very smart and catches on very quickly to new things. Not that our princess isn’t smart, but William just picks up on things extra quick and then he just knows them.

We also played Frankenstein, as this is how William looks when he WALKS. Yes, folks, our baby boy can walk now. Emily can walk too and they both seem to take groups of steps at different times. But after last night and today and tonight again, William is consistently taking large groups of steps at a time. He walked down the hall, across the room. After bath time tonight, I was getting Emily dressed and half paying attention to William playing ( yeah yeah, so I’m not the perfect Mom!)  I knew he had gone into the hallway, but again, I wasn’t paying complete attention, I was trying to wrangle the princess’s legs into her PJ’s. So I notice something out of the corner of my eye, and I think to myself, in a little bit of a scared way, what the HECK is THAT?! It just caught me off guard…and it was William walking into the room. Just strolling right on in! I about died! It’s just so strange to see him actually up on 2 feet, walking around like a person. Yes, he’s still Frankensteinish…but it’s definitely a start, and once Emily starts to feel really brave, she’ll be right behind him!

Tonight we had spaghetti, I actually cooked it with my 2 hands. Emily ate it off the spoon, but William would have nothing to do with a spoon.  So I just decided to go ahead and let them have it, we were getting a bath anyway. Here is the aftermath!

William loves to climb onto things, to get to things he’s not supposed to. Tonight, even though he was trying his best to get to the Wii games, he took a load off in the basket.

Well, I need to be doing my Wii…but I sure don’t want to. I’ll do my housework instead and see if the Wii calls my name ( somehow I doubt it will!) Happy Monday!

Veggie Rebellion

We are in the midst of one at our house, but only by William. He HATES vegetables right now, and it seems like it just happened out of the blue! He will eat baby food green beans (even though we are moving off of baby food almost completely) and this weekend he decided he DID like cut up carrots, with cinnamon. So that is what he ate! He loves bread. And string cheese. And puffs. And he pretty much likes any kind of fruit. He is doing great with his milk and his juice, just anything in his cup. We’ve been a week without bottles. He just won’t eat veggies right now and really, he isn’t crazy about anything you have to feed him. He’ll eat a spoonful and then promptly open his mouth and let it roll off of his tongue, on his bib, where he then picks it up, looks at it and then smashes it in the tray or sometimes he will actually swallow it. Oh well, I know kiddos go thru phases, so I’m not worrying about it too much.

Emily is a fine eater. I really don’t have any problems with her at all, she’s not picky and normally eats all of her food, each time. She is not doing quite as good as William with her cup, but she has improved a lot and is close to getting her milk allotment for the day. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re trying.

DSC_0345 DSC_0344 DSC_0362 DSC_0365

They are both getting to the stage where they realize if you are doing something with the other one and they don’t like it too much! If they see you reading with the other, or going somewhere with the other one, they normally get upset, or want to join in too. They are also starting to play more and more together. If no one is around, they will play together well. They entertain themselves. But once they see you – all bets are off, they just want you to hang out with them! Lol, I don’t blame them, I’d want that too!

Emily stayed in her PJ’s all day today! Oops! William did get dressed, but not until about 1:00. He went to the store with Daddy today all by himself. This is the first time in one year, and 2 weeks that Billy has taken any baby anywhere by himself. He’s never driven in the car with them by himself! His parents came by today for a few mins and his mom was giving him a hard time, so off they went, Billy and William, to Publix! What a big boy – Billy I mean, lol….It’s the first time that I can think of that I’ve only had one baby at home with me. It was nice. Me and Emily folded clothes, changed their sheets and put clothes up in their room. We also changed the sheets on Mama and Daddy’s bed too!

Anyway, the weekend is over now, and a new week has begun! Happy Sunday!
