I got aggravated at William tonight, but I’m sure you already know that. I also hope that you realize how much I love them and cherish them, and also at the very same time, how much we miss you. On this 2nd anniversary of the day you were taken from us, I choose today to be mad at your sweet cousin. After showering and thinking and saying a prayer or two, I have decided that I am utterly ridiculous. Yes, I know I’m allowed to get frustrated at times…that is natural and part of being a Mama. I get that. But I need to always keep in mind how precious they are, and how lucky we are to have them. You help me with that. You are a reminder to me of how special life is and how we can’t take anything for granted, you just never know when things might change. You pop into my mind at the strangest times and sometimes bring tears to my eyes and other times…just thoughts. Thoughts about what you’d be like today, how you’d act, if you’d be giving Kristin a run for her money too, lol…I’m sure you would be, but I also know how wonderfully sweet you’d be too.
I miss you. And I love you. We all do. Emily and William won’t know you, but they will know of you. And I’m counting on you to keep watching over them, and over me too, helping me to be a good Mama. Grout scrubber
That is me tonight…a grout scrubber. I don’t know why I started, I just thought I’d try again to make the grout look a little better ( I think it’s hopeless though). So I did a square or two. The night progressed…William became increasingly daredevilish and disobedient..climbing, laughing, running, etc…and I became increasingly irritated.
Don’t get me wrong, I love these 2 little folks more than anything. But right now…especially William, they are a handful! And sometimes I get aggravated and raise my voice a little too loud and possibly plop William down in the corner a bit too harsh. There I said it, I admitted it. I get aggravated at the 18 month old twins that live here at my house. That are my children. My beloved children, who came from my tummy and I wanted so much. And I love them to death, but this stage is still new to me. I know I am in store for much much more of this, I’m just saying tonight….I’m scrubbing grout. Right after I put them down (which maaaay have been a tad earlier than normal), I got on my hands and knees and started scrubbing away. Some people drink, some people jog…I guess I scrub.

Yes, I caved and bought the “ limited edition” denim huggies…I just couldn’t resist. We don’t use Huggies, I’m a Pampers Mama. But when I saw those funny lookin’ diapers, I just couldn’t help myself. Lol, they are quite funny, if I do say so myself….

Going through the Big D…..
Yes, folks, we have been going through the Big D at our house….Diarrhea that is. That might be tmi for some, but it’s the truth! We thought Billy was reacting to something he was taking, but then William followed suit, so we are now thinking it might have been some kind of stomach virus. Poor little guy has a raw bottom and is just miserable when we change his diaper. I feel so bad for him, but hopefully they are both on the mend now!
We played outside yesterday at a park in Green Cove Springs, and then came home and got in their little pool for the first time. They really enjoyed getting in it, even if they DID track dirt and leaves all over the place.
Emily is all over her strep throat. It turned out that she was allergic to the first antibiotic she was given, so our first night in WR, we had to visit a Medstop and get a new antibiotic for her. Thankfully, she only had a bad rash and no other reaction.
We had a great trip to my dad’s house for his BD. We got to see a lot of people we never see and it was nice to see our cousins, their kids, and see everyone playing together like they were old friends.
Some other random things:
1) Emily is saying more and more words. She finally says MAMA, yay!!! She still doesn’t say it AT or TO me, but when you tell her to say it, instead of saying Daddy, she now actually says Mama. William, on the other hand, will still say Daddy when you ask him to say Mama. Go figure!
2) Emily loves to give kisses and they always big, fat, open mouth kisses…so funny!
3) William hates elevators! Everytime we get in, he cires.
4) They are both getting into more and more trouble, but William definitely gets into more than Emily does. They insist on standing on the couch and jumping, something we don’t want them to do. They have also discovered our “entertainment” cabinet, which holds the DVD player, Wii, etc. They are NOT supposed to open the doors, and we have tried several things to discourage this, but so far, nothing is working. They get their hand popped and they have to sit in time-out…and the first thing they do when they get up is go right back over. I suppose this is the life of 17 month old twins!
I guess that’s it for now. We did some computer re-arranging yet again, so my computer is in a better place now, and hopefully that will help me to blog a bit more. Happy Sunday!Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Just for the record
Anyway, 2 things:
1) Friday will be 3 weeks that we are without pacifiers! Yay for us! One Friday night I just decided to try them without it, and we haven't gone back.
2) Emily currently has her first case of strep throat. She has been very sick and hopefully will be feeling better very soon.
Ok, 2 more things:
3) William has to have minor surgery to open his tear ducts. We were pretty sure it would need to be done, and we've been waiting on our appt to the opthamologist. He confirmed what we already thought, so hopefully here soon his little ducts will be wide open and his eyes won't always be so runny and gunky.
4) We are headed to see my dad tomorrow! I haven't been to my dad's house in ages, and Billy has never been, so hopefully we will have a nice ride and visit. We are going to WR tomorrow, spending the night, picking up my sister, and then headed to Watkinsville!

Joe Dirt and some other stuff
On Saturday, April 10th, Emily and William got their first haircuts! I was not overly excited about this task, but knew it needed to be done, mainly for William’s sake. His hair was shaggy, which may be in style for some people, but not really for us. He has small curls in the back though, curls that make him seem like a baby boy, NOT a big boy yet. And I didn’t know how I’d cut it…but once we got there, I couldn’t cut them off. They were trimmed, and the top was cut a lot, but the back…is still slightly long. What some might call…a mullet. Or as everyone else says, he now looks like Joe Dirt. I don’t care, I’m keeping my Joe Dirt a little longer, I just can’t part with all of his locks just yet.
They did great with the cut though. William went first. She put on the little apron, sat him in the booster seat and he just sat there. He barely made a peep. Emily did about the same. She was a bit more inquisitive, she looked around and chatted a bit, but no tears were shed, no screaming, nothing eventful at all.
We went to the park on Sunday for a mini picnic…
And tonight we went shopping for the first time in the car buggy at Publix. I always use my stroller, so I don’t go huge shopping when I have them by myself. But tonight I figured it was time to try it out. We went in in a regular buggy, but then switched when we got inside and found the car. I don’t know if we just had a bad buggy, but man oh man, this car was HARD to steer! We hit several displays and I had to back up several times to get around certain corners. The babies loved it though, even though they chewed on the steering wheels…YUCK! I wasn’t prepared for that, so there wasn’t anything I could do to stop it. I did get some help in the parking lot though, someone took my buggy back to the car corral for me, so that was nice.
Lastly, my babysitter is great. She does all sorts of fun stuff with the kids, they play outside, they go places, they learn, they have fun, and they play dress up! Lol….

15 months means….
A: Emily weighs 24.10 pounds and is 32 1/2 inches tall. That means she is in the 75% for weight and 95% for length. William weighs 23.13 pounds and is 31 1/2 inches long. He is in the 50% for both height and length. I don’t know why I love hearing the percentiles, but I love their check-ups for this very reason. Dr. Cooper says they are both happy and healthy and are all set to come back at 18 months. She also did confirm that William had roseola, go figure….
B. We still love baskets around here. We don’t have as many out anymore, because they were being used as climbing mechanisms, but we still have a few.
C: William says Daddy, Doggie, Hi. Emily says Daddy, Dog, Juice, Hi, Thank you. Notice MAMA is missing from this list! Ugh – they can make the sound, but wont’ really say the word, not to mean anything at least. Hopefully soon, we sure do practice a lot, but when I say Mama, they say DaaaaDeeeee! Lol…
D: They love books, Emily especially. If they get quiet, and they’re not in trouble somewhere, they are in the book basket, getting all of them out, flipping through them. Emily will sit for 30 mins or more, just looking through her books. We need to get some more of the touchy ones.
E: They are sitting at the table now, still in highchairs, but pulled up to the table. They try to use plates, sometimes it’s successful, sometimes they end up on the floor. They both loooove spoons, and are improving each day with them. We still have a ways to go, but practice makes perfect. We have still not mastered being clean while we eat though!
F: Both babies love baths! William will NOT sit on his bottom though and it’s very frustrating, trying to make him sit and all he wants to do is laugh and stand up. Suggestions!? But they both love the water and never like to get out of the tub. We don’t stay in long, we do our business and get out, but they still enjoy their time in the water.
G: We try to stick to a routine. Get home by about 5, 5:15. Eat dinner. Play. Baths every other night ( so sue me if you think they should be bathed every night). Bedtime by 8:00pm. Bedtime is definitely way easier than it was before. This will probably be my kiss of death, but most nights they go right down without too much fuss. Emily is sleeping soooo much better too. She still has a few cry outs right at first, before 11pm, but after that, she’s normally good to go for the night.
I think that’s about it. 15 months ago these precious babies came into our world and things have never been the same! Lol, I still laugh and think about the way things “ used to be before the babies.” And it’s still hard to wrap my head around the fact that they LIVE here with US, and will for a LONG time! Hehe. We love them more than anything though and it’s so much fun being able to do more stuff with them, going on outings, eating out, just stuff we didn’t do for a long time with them. I think the thought of taking tiny baby twins out places was very intimidating! BUT – I’ve been there done that, so now I feel pretty good! Go ME!
