RIP My friend Galant

I got the bad news today, my Galant has been totaled. I got in a car wreck on Tuesday and I have been waiting to hear from the insurance guy about the estimate for damage. The damage repair outweighs the car’s worth, so they are totaling it and my good friend will be sent to a salvage yard. I feel very sad about this for many reasons. I guess the most notable reason is because we are NOT in a place AT ALL to buy a new car of any kind. So that is stressful.

This was also MY car. I had my very first car, a Celica, when I turned 16, it was 10 years old. I wrecked it 10 days after I got my license. Yeah….

Then came my Cavalier, brand new, 1996, courtesy of my grandparents. I drove it until I got a Mitsubishi…ummm…Montero Sport, for about one month, THEN traded that in when I moved to Jax. I won’t go into the details of WHY I moved to Jax, but getting the Galant was something I did on my own, no help and it was a decision I made on my own in order to move forward with my life here. Anyway, I’ve had it for 6 1/2 years and I like it. Yes, it occasionally gets on my nerves, but overall, I have been very pleased with it.

So, tomorrow I am going to get the tag and get my sunglasses which I forgot, and say good bye to my friend. *sniffle*

Since I’m having a semi-pityparty tonight, I will say that the babies have been having an awful time going to bed lately and it’s very tiresome at times. Both babies screeeam when they go to bed, and many times I move William out in a pack and play and that’s where he sleeps. I know it’s Ok to let them fuss, I’m fine with that, but screaming down to the depths of your throat, that’s hard to listen to. Anyway, I am just feeling like complaining a little tonight, and it’s my blog, so there!!! ;-)

I guess I’ll end for tonight. Happy Thursday and safe driving!

Oatmeal and Mt. Dew

That is what my breakfast consisted of this morning. How am I going to be a good role model with eating habits like this?!!? I'm doing the Dew thing because our princess did not sleep well last night. I can give credit where credit is due and say that she has been sleeping much better lately, BUT - last night she got up about once an hour. I finally took her out of bed between 4-4:30 and laid her down with us, but she wanted to toss, turn, talk and kick for the next hour. Then it was time for me to get up in the next 45 mins, ugh! So Mt. Dew is my drink of choice today!

Life at our house is changing everyday. William has started being mean to Emily. He pulls her hair, knocks her down, grabs her face/eyes and smooshes them in his hands. He rams her with his little walking cart. He steals toys. She does steal toys too, and occasionally will pull his hair, but normally, he is the culprit. We have started having to discipline our little Prince and I have no idea how to do that with an 11 month old! Ideas are welcome!

I can't believe in 3 short weeks they will be one year old. One whole year has passed. We made it!!!

Not much time right now, and no pics to post either, but Happy Tuesday!

Kickin’ off the Christmas season

It’s official, it’s Christmastime!!! Yay! We love Christmas at our house. I’m so lucky to have a husband that loves the holidays, he actually likes to buy decorations more than I do. He loves to put lights up and put the tree up and just get in the Christmas spirit. I get informed every year that “that is our tradition.” Lol, apparently we have traditions I didn’t know about!

Anyway, we got our tree today and the babies don’t know what to think of this new addition to the house.

I have ornaments that must go on the tree every year, so I separate those out first. I have my Big Bird and Ernie, from 1982…those are my special ones. I have ones of my Granddaddy's from when he was a little boy, I’m sure that my great-grandmother made them, Styrofoam balls with sparklies glued to them. I have tons of frog ornaments, some personalized. Billy insists that we buy a Hallmark ornament each year with the year on it ( we haven’t gotten ours this year yet). He has Star Wars ornaments. He likes garland, I don’t care for it much. We both love colored lights. He likes icicles (sp?), and I don’t care for them either. But we compromise, and over the years it’s been fun to see what our tree has blended in to…a true mixture of both of us!

The babies have ornaments with their names on them, courtesy of their Nana, so they each put them on the tree.

And just because he is so sweet, look what Billy brought me – my very own Christmas owl, I looooove him!!!!

Floors and hallways

That’s where I spend most of my time on the weeknights. Babies play while I clean up a bit, and then we play in the hallway or on the living room floor. This is what my nightly routine consists of:

We had to move some stuff around in order for the X-mas tree to fit, so we now have a room full of furniture, way too much really. I keep telling myself it’s only temporary, one day the house will be back to normal. It might be a long time from now, but one day…it will be!

Cheers to my fun-filled nights and races in the hall!

Giving Thanks

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving as a family this year.

Our day started out good, we got up and had breakfast and then watched the parade. We tried to show the babies the floats, but they weren’t overly impressed. We left to go to Aunt Carol’s house around 1:15pm, only when we went to leave, this is what happened:

My stupid car battery was dead. We jumped it off and off we went. Emily and William ate all real food, no baby food at all, so that was nice. We had a nice afternoon and came home around 6…after having to be jumped off AGAIN! Needless to say, Billy made a Wal-mart run when we got home, and I’m the proud new owner of a new battery.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I miss my family very much on holidays, and all the time, but it sure is nice to be around my hubby’s family! Happy Thursday!

Noodle neck

I found a spaghetti noodle in Emily's neck yesterday. I was cleaning her up from dinner and there it was. I had to laugh and said out loud, Now why do you have a noodle in your neck? And she just giggled...it's making me giggle now thinking about it.

They are so freaking cute right now. I just love them both to pieces.

William: hates broccoli; is the most inquisitive little thing and determined and persistent, if he sees something he wants, he goes and gets it; hates being told No, or being " redirected;" is smaller than Emily still; is very fast; recognizes a bottle from a mile away and hates when he can't have it fast enough; is very smart; mimicks things now, he learned how to stick his tongue out last Friday at dinner, Jakie taught him; is my little Prince.

Emily: crawls, but is never in a huge hurry, she takes many breaks along the way; is more independent than I thought she would be, she will play by herself for long periods of time; seems to love books; doesn't mind things on her head, hats, bows or headbands, thank goodness; will eat just about anything and eats very well; still doesn't sleep thru the night; doesn't get into very much right now; loves to stand up and is much braver than her brother as far as letting go; bumps her head ALOT; is my sweet Princess.

Tomorrow will be their first Thanksgiving. Last year I had a big read bow around my belly and this year, I have 2 little twins to show off. They make me smile all the time.

Happy Wednesday and Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
