Yes folks, me and Billy had a little getaway!!! A few months ago our friend Alex won tickets to Islands of Adventure through his work, and he invited us to go! The plans finally came together and we went down late Thursday night, went to the park on Friday, stayed Friday night and came back yesterday. We had a great time! There was a group of 4, me, Billy, Alex and Larry, so Billy had “friend” time and also “wife” time, all rolled into one. The weather was great, lines were great, babies were great while we were gone…what more could we have asked for?!!?!?

My mom and Nana came down to watch them, and we are so very thankful that it all worked out so well. We even had a home cooked dinner on Saturday night! Life is good!!!

Happy Sunday!

Haircut day

DSC_0800

Today William got his haircut. We went right after work, and they did great. He say in the chair, with his frog robe, so good and didn’t make a peep. He even let her use the clippers on his neck and on his sideburns a little bit. Emily also got her hair curled, which she just thought was the best. She got pink hairclips too, which again, she just LOVED.

A potty weekend

Man oh man…our life has been consumed with the potty. I don’t know if it’s just our children, or the fact that we have 2 that we are doing at the same time…but everything we think/talk/act/dream about is about the potty….who needs to go, who just went, who needs to wash hands, who needs to pull up their underwear…it really is a constant thing. Nevertheless, they are doing well. We still haven’t mastered the #2 thing yet, but I’m hoping that will come soon. I have to say, William is still doing better than Emily, which we were very surprised at. I love my baby boy, but Emily has always been the one to catch on to things quicker, counting, reading letters, saying her ABC’s, singing songs….he’s more agile…so I just assumed she’d pick pottying up quicker. Just another reason I try not to assume too much!

Saturday we went to the juvenille diabetes walk. We walked with Billy and Christie’s work, and they had a big team from LPS. The babies did great. We took our new portable potty, took one break on the walk, behind a building, and that was it! We went many other times while waiting, before and after, but all in all, no accidents! Billy’s mom was horrified that I refused to stand in a HUGE line for the girl’s bathroom, and took Emily behind a tree and let her sit on the potty there. William also had his first pee on a tree experience AND pee on a building experience. Yes, some might shudder…but the way I feel, ya gotta do what ya gotta do when they are first learning. I’m just fine with that!

Other than the walk, we didn’t leave the house. Lol, we played outside a lot and just piddled around the house. Taking them out is still slightly intimidating to me, so I’m kind of avoiding too much of it! Oh well, we are having a fine time hanging out at home!

Dear Lord…

Short blog post about Day One of potty training. Actually, I’m not praying for help with that…I’m praying for help with William’s new fits he is throwing. They are just terrible, and I don’t know what to do about them. It would help if I could figure out exactly what triggers them, besides brushing his teeth, but right now, I haven’t figured it out. I know he gets that way when he is tired, which he was VERY tired tonight. Maybe that’s it…I really don’t know. What I do know is that it’s very trying and it’s very frustrating when I can’t do anything to console him….I fluctuate between being irrirated/angry to feel guilty and sad that his Mama can’t make him feel better. I’m hoping this little phase will pass quickly.

We DID have day one of potty training today. Ya’ll know I’m a Mama who works outside the home, and I have a wonderful baby-sitter, Kristy. Kristy and I have talked about PT for a while now and I have discussed the method I want to try, which is my friend Steph’s method. I know nothing about any of this, so I figure – why not, it’s worked for her 3 times now! So we’re going cold turkey, took off diapers today and hoped for the best. Kristy came to my house today, and will be coming tomorrow, then I’ll have them over the weekend, all day, to practice pottying. Unfortunately, Kristy got a bad migraine today, so she had to leave early, and I came home from work early and took over the PT duty.

I’m proud to say, and super surprised, that William did GREAT!!! He seemed to catch on very quickly, he loves sitting on the potty and went constantly. I know he had a few accidents this morning, but none once I got home. He never pooped…but hopefully that will come tomorrow. Emily on the other hand…not so great. She has been the one showing so much interest, and she’s been pee peeing for a while now, just randomly, but she always tells you if she has to go, we try, and she normally goes. Unfortunately, right now it seems as though she’s decided that’s not so much fun anymore and she doesn’t want to do it. She peed everywhere, pooped twice, and we are a carpeted house, except in the kitchen. I know everything can be cleaned, and I’m not overly concerned about the carpet, but still, she peed RIGHT by the potty chair.

Tomorrow is a new day though and hopefully Kristy will be better, and will be the main trainer tomorrow. Lol, I admire you stay at home moms…I tell ya – I’m not sure I could do it….more power to you! On that note, I’m going to sit on the couch and do nothing else. Happy Thursday!

Moon Sand….

Ahhh, Tuesday, Tuesday…my days begin with kicking and screaming kids, not wanting to get out of bed, not get diapers changed and not wanting to get into the car seats. We do the same thing everyday. I try to make our routine as painless and loving as possible. It’s not working right now.

I arrive to pick them up…they kick and scream again. Emily screams as loud as she can NO, WANT TO STAY WITH KRISTY. Over and over again. *sigh* I guess it’s a phase, but this is what I get up to and what I face right when I get off work. Once we’re about halfway home, things calm down and they accept the fact that they are going to their own house.

I found out this week that Playdough is not gluten free. I’d never even thought about that until Kristy brought it up and wants to start using it…so I decided to try Mood Sand instead, which is gluten free. What a stupid thing that is…

I’m fine with messes, but I at least want everyone to have fun. I don’t think anyone enjoyed this too much, other than the fact we were having a “picnic” on a sheet. We kept it out for about 10 mins, and then decided to call it quits. The rest of the night has been spent with time-outs, tears, Elmo, doing the robot dance and spinning in a computer chair.

I also caught them drinking “ Sweet Tea” which really wasn’t tea, but leftover Pepsi from work from about Noon.

Ahhh…Tuesday, Tuesday…what will Wednesday hold?!?! Let’s wait and see….

A peachy weekend

We went to Gordonia-Altamaha state park this weekend with Billy’s family and had a great time. We rented 2 cabins and they were super nice. We spent a lot of time outside and just hung out, very nice indeed!

DSC_0462DSC_0475DSC_0486DSC_0489DSC_0504DSC_0531DSC_0563DSC_0573

The babies got to roast marshmellows for the first time and William had a ball, he thought it was great to mush them around in his fingers and smear them on his face! You can see a little snippit of the weekend, playing with balls, attempting to take some cute pictures of these 2 year olds, William driving the car about 20 feet down the road, and stopping at McDonald’s on the way home to “play.” The weekend was great!

A few random tidbits to mention":

1) On the way home today, Emily kept saying something and I was almost 100% sure she was saying “roast beef.” I kept asking her what in the world she was saying, so I called the baby sitter to ask if they learned a song about Roast Beef…lol, she said Noooo, they had not been singing about Roast Beef. It was at that moment I looked at Emily in the backseat, and realized she was playing with her toes and she was saying “ This little piggy” and of course that DOES have roast beef in it. Mystery solved!

2) I told Emily to be still tonight so I could take a picture of her cute skirt. She informed me that “ I’m playing right now.” Hmph…

3) As you can see from the above picture, William has started picking his nose. Yuckkkk! Lol..he’s such a boy, in all of the ways!

4) We are starting to potty train on Thursday. My friend Stephanie ( I don’t know how to link to another blog), uses a certain method and I’m going to try it. It makes sense, it’s worked for 3 of her kids and I know it’ll work for her 4th, so I thought I may as well give it a try. Thursday is the day, so I’ll let ya know how it goes! Wish us well!

That’s about it for now. I have neglecting my chores so I need to do some work around here. Happy Monday!

Update: It's been about 40 minutes since I put the twins to bed and it was a little harder than usual, I guess with being OOT and all. Anyway, I'm at my computer ( letting the floor dry because YES - I did get up and do a chore), and I hear a noise..one of those kind of eerie ones where you're almost afraid to turn around...and there was Emily, sitting in the corner playing with her Little People doll house. Lol..ya gotta love 2 year olds!

It’s a GOOSE!!!

Well, my mom and Nana left today, they came on Thursday and left this morning. We had a nice visit and they baby-sat for us, so that was also nice! Thursday after work I got my eyebrows waxed and a pedicure…if only every Thursday could be like that….Friday we shopped a little after work, and ate dinner at Chili’s. Then on Saturday, we went shopping at the mall until about 2 and then headed home so I could get ready for the wedding!!!

My best friend, Janet’s dad got married on Saturday. Their family lost their mom and wife almost 3 years ago, which was very tough and very unexpected. Since then, Bill has been thru some ups and downs, as has their family, but he found and fell in love with a woman named Sharon, who he married on Saturday. The wedding was very nice, and everything seemed to go perfect. Me and Billy had a fabulous time. I bought a new dress AND new shoes, which I NEVER do, and I felt nice…like we went out on a real date again! Billy was not overly excited about attending the wedding, but even he admitted that he ended up having a good time!

billandsharonDSC_0086-1DSC_0120DSC_0127-1DSC_0221DSC_0230DSC_0256first day

I went to bed late last night, woke up slightly tired, but in a good mood today! My mom and Nana left early, and then we headed to the park.

After we left the playground, we walked around the little pond to feed the ducks…

DSC_0408DSC_0410

Me, William and Emily sat down on the grass to just watch the ducks for a minute, and then Billy says, Look William, look at those geese flying….

It gets closer…

And William FREAKS OUT!!!

DSC_0421

If I had my video camera, we’d be $10,000 richer, because we would have won AFV…it was sooo funny. Poor little guy started with a little whimper, then a cry, then a scream of pure terror at that big goose flying straight for him. Thank goodness for Daddy who scooped him up to comfort him…I was too busy laughing and trying to take these pictures. Yes, some might say I’m a mean and cruel Mama, but I just couldn’t help it. I’m still giggling about it now, 10 hours later….

Anyway, all in all we’ve had a really good weekend, and I hope the upcoming week will be the same! Happy Sunday!
